Romania vs. Ukraine 3-0
Ukraine's form looked good in the beginning but Romania was more threatening in the counter attack. Once Romania scored, it invigorated them and Ukraine went on a downhill path.
Belgium vs. Slovakia 0-1
Belgium was the clear favourite and dominated the possession but could not prove effective or clinical in attack. Slovakia's defence won and they even got a goal early on from a blunder by Belgian defence. Out of the big names, Belgium performed the worst.
Slovakia vs. Ukraine 1-2
Slovakia had more dominance and looked more threatening but Ukraine looked for counter chances. Persistance led to Slovakia's first goal early on before 18 minutes. Slovakia's defence line had some holes and Ukraine could have capitalized but couldn't. In the second half, Ukraine was more dominant and purposeful in attack and that led to 2 goals. Slovakia was mentally startled and that affected their attack as well.
Belgium vs. Romania 2-0
Belgium had the ball most of the time. They had lots of chances so they should have scored more but the finishes were not clinical. Belgium scored early on in the first half but the next goal took forever to happen despite their dominance. In the 63rd minute, Belgium's Lukaku scored but it was called offside. The additional goal finally came in the 79th minute when the goal keeper cleared all the way to the striker at the front who then connected it well. Belgium wasn't effective on carefully crafted plays but more lethal in counter attacks.
Ukraine vs. Belgium 0-0
Belgium dominated possession but they thought too much and were predictable. Ukraine looked threatening on counter attacks but the finish was lacking. Belgium had some chances but missed. All in all, it was an unimpressive performance from Belgium.
Slovakia vs. Romania 1-1
Slovakia looked more convincing in the beginning and scored first from a nice long range pass. Ten minutes before the end of first half, Romania equalized from a penalty kick and that invigorated them. It was a competitive second half but the scores remained unchanged. Thus, Romania topped the group.
