So it went all the way to extra time. In extra time, Austria was tired and Italy took most of the possession. Ultimately, Italy was able to score twice. Austria needed to catch up so they brought up their energy again and was able to pull one goal back but it was not enough. Group Stages Matchday 3 Italy vs Wales 1-0 Both teams were dynamic in movement but Italy was better somehow. Ultimately, Italy was able to break through the defence with a set piece and a first goal. Thereafter, Italy kept charging in and became more of a threat. Wales tried to attack but Italy's defence and dominant possession limited their efforts. In the second half, it was a stalemate. Switzerland vs Turkey 3-1 Swiss players cracked screamers twice for an early lead. After Turkey conceded two goals early, Turkey tried to come back but the Swiss goalie held firm to block the ball from harm's way. In the second half, Turkey's defence was taken advantage of and Swiss added another goal. Turkey pulled one back with a great long-range shot but that's as far as attack went for them. Group Stages Matchday 2 Recap Russia was the better team. Turkey was weak and Wales was dynamic. Italy dominated play. Ukraine capitalized on their opportunities while Macedonia got lucky with their goal. Denmark led the game very early in and was persistent on adding to their score but Belgium was too good. Denmark was out-classed. Netherlands was the dominant of the two. Sweden made an effort to penetrate Slovakia's defence but it was a difficult feat. Sweden nevertheless scored and won. Croatia's persistence rewarded them a tie. Scotland, the supposedly weaker link, surprisingly fared well against England which led to a draw. Hungary's fighting spirit earned them a tie. Germany was frustrating to watch at first but their offence eventually came through. Germany may not be what they used to be but they're still Germany and they get the job done. Group Stages - Matchday 1 At first, Turkey was defensively doing well. But Italy kept on knocking on the door, and eventually broke through Turkey's defence. Then Turkey's mentality crumbled thereafter. They were neck and neck as is reflected by the tied score. Finland got a goal first but Denmark didn't give up and was working hard to even the score when suddenly Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch. Everyone (the audience, the players and team staff, and the commentators) was all in disbelief, anguish, empathy and/or teary watching him undergo CPR on live TV. We feared for the worst. Fortunately, he left the field awoke thanks to the speedy decisiveness of the referee and promptness of the ER staff attendance. The game got cancelled. Belgium was the dominant team as expected.
